September 7, 2021- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Katrina Hook and Patrick Boyer were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club's Students of the Month for September. This program celebrates and recognizes student achievements by sustaining a culture of learning that values academics success and raises awareness of student contributions to the EAHS community.

Hook is the daughter of Angelina and John Hook of Elizabethtown. As a junior, the high school inducted Hook into the prestigious T.H. Ebersole Chapter of the National Honor Society for exhibiting the four pillars of scholarship, character, leadership, and service.

In the classroom, Hook is a dedicated learner, having earned academic excellence awards in the curricular areas of French II and Financial Investments. An exceptional writer, she placed first in the 2019 National History Day in PA Region 9 program. The Dispatches from Quarantine published her writing in its 2021 student gallery and featured her on its NPR morning edition. In addition, she placed second in the Pennsylvania Council for Financial Literacy Budget Game Challenge.

Hook is heavily involved in numerous school activities. She is vice president of the student council, a peer tutor for middle school students, and a member of the Key Club.

Active in our high school's athletic program, Hook is captain of the cross-country team and a member of the track and field team and winter track club. In cross country, her coach awarded her the Coaches' Award, and in track and field, her coach named her the recipient of the Bear Spirit Award.

Katrina Hook and Patrick BoyerIn the community, Hook has been a volunteer with the Healthy Kids Running Series. In addition, she is a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown.

Her future plans include attending college to major in Business or Communications while competing on the cross-country team.

Boyer is the son of Craig and Karen Boyer of Elizabethtown. Also, having exhibit outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service, the high school inducted Boyer into the prestigious T.H. Ebersole Chapter of the National Honor Society in the spring of his junior year.

A talented musician and performer, Boyer is a member of the concert, jazz, and marching bands; the orchestra; and the chorus. He is also active with the high school's theater program.

Active in our high school's athletic program, Boyer represents EAHS on the school's swim and the track and field teams.

In the community, Boyer is very active in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), where he earned BSA's highest rank of Eagle Scout. In addition, Boyer is a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown.

After graduation, Boyer plans to take his love and talent for music to the collegiate level, pursuing a degree in music production.
