Elizabethtown Area High School is proud to recognize its October Rotary Club Students of the Month: Kendal Huggins and Dominic Hemsch. This honor celebrates students who demonstrate excellence in academics, leadership, and community involvement, highlighting their positive impact on the school and broader community.

Kendal Huggins

Kendal Huggins

Kendal is the daughter of John and Emily Huggins of Elizabethtown.

Kendal is a highly engaged student leader who holds numerous leadership positions, including Class of 2026 Vice President, Student Council President, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) President, and Link Crew Commissioner. As a member of FBLA, she has advanced to the state competition in broadcast journalism twice. She has represented her high school as a delegate at both regional and state FBLA conferences. Athletically, Kendal is a member of the girls’ lacrosse team.

Her academic excellence has been recognized through induction into the National Honor Society, which celebrates students who exemplify the four pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. In addition, the high school faculty has honored Kendal with underclass awards in Biology, Wellness, Honors Geometry, and 11th Grade Health.

Outside of school, Kendal is an active member of Hope Community Church in Mount Joy, where she participates in the youth group. She also balances employment at Starbucks, where she works as a barista, and Sloan’s Pharmacy, where she serves as a pharmacy intern.

Looking ahead, Kendal plans to pursue a four-year nursing program to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with the ultimate goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.

Dominic Hemsch

Dominic is the son of Robert and Bianca Hemsch of Elizabethtown.

Dominic Hemsch

Dominic is a dedicated and accomplished student whose academic success includes induction into the National Honor Society and recognition as an AP Scholar—a distinction awarded by the College Board to students who demonstrate outstanding college-level achievement through their performance on Advanced Placement exams. The high school faculty has also honored Dominic with underclass awards in both Speech and Band.

A talented musician, Dominic serves as the drumline captain in both the marching and concert bands, and he plays percussion in the symphonic orchestra, jazz band, and the pit orchestra for the spring musical. He has auditioned for and performed with the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 7 Band and Jazz Band, as well as the Lancaster-Lebanon Music Educators Association (LLMEA) County Band (twice) and County Orchestra (twice).

Dominic’s leadership and involvement extend beyond music. He serves as President of Model UN and Media Manager of Roots and Shoots, while also contributing as a member of Key Club, Human Rights Club, and Book Club. Beyond school, he performs with the Masonic Village Encore Band and showcases his musical talents at community concerts, festivals, and local venues.

After graduation, Dominic plans to attend a four-year university to pursue a double major in music and business, and ultimately earn a law degree to specialize in either copyright law or music management.
