May 25, 2021- Elizabethtown Area High School seniors Alaina Zeager and Owen Heistand were named the Elizabethtown Rotary Club's students of the month for May. Zeager and Heistand were honored for their high academic achievement, extensive school involvement, and community service activities.

Zeager is the daughter of Dean and Darcie Zeager of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society. She also made the Dean’s List at Harrisburg Area Community College as part of EAHS’s post-secondary dual credit opportunities.

Zeager is active in numerous school programs and activities. She is a concert and show choir member. She is also active with Key Club and serves as a tutor.

In the community, Zeager volunteers as an emergency medical technician, as a mentor with the Bigs and Littles program, and in the Lancaster General Hospital emergency room. She is an active member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Elizabethtown.

Zeager plans to attend Penn State University to pursue a degree in biology.

May students of the month photoHeistand is the son of Stacy and Michelle Heistand of Mount Joy. He is a member of the prestigious National Honor Society.

Heistand is active in numerous school programs and activities. He is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, the Key Club, and the math and computer club. He is also active with Mini-THON, where he has served on the security committee.

Heistand received Academic Excellence Awards in computer programming and Psychology. As part of his involvement with Future Business Leaders of America, Heistand earned second and third place awards in FBLA competitions respectively in Introduction to Information Technology and Computer Problem Solving categories.

In the community, Heistand is active in scouting where he has earned the prestigious Eagle Scout distinction. He has also volunteered at Masonic Villages and the Elizabethtown Heritage House, as well as with Elizabethtown Area Communities That Care. He is an active member of LCBC Manheim campus.

Heistand plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology and study engineering. He will also play soccer for the Tigers of RTI.
